The evacuation zone is closed. The State has a curfew in force. Most of the region has stopped moving.
One trucker, apparently, did not get the memo.
Spotted from the air
Weazel News has had drones in the air over Los Santos and the surrounding highways this week, watching the empty city. On one of those flights, our camera picked up something nobody expected: a dark semi truck pulling a white freight trailer, on the move, with nobody else on the road.
Our drone followed the rig for miles. It went where the evacuation order says nobody should go, down into the depths of Los Santos and back out along the empty highways, stopping only to park up on the scrubland beside the road next to an abandoned caravan before heading off again.
Who is behind the wheel?
We do not know. The driver never stepped out long enough for our cameras to get a look, and the trailer carries no markings we could trace to a company that is still operating in the city.
What we do know is that they are not stopping. Checkpoints, curfews and a city with no customers have not slowed them down. Every time our drone lost them, they turned up again on another stretch of road, still hauling.
Hero or hazard?
Opinions are split. Some evacuees say the driver could be running supplies to the Preservation Teams still working inside the city. Others think they are simply ignoring the rules, and that driving a forty-tonne rig across roads that engineers have not finished checking is asking for trouble.
The Sheriff’s Department has not said whether it knows who the driver is, or whether they have permission to be there.
Know this driver?
If you know who is behind the wheel, or you are the driver and want to tell your side of the story, the Weazel News tip line is open. Our drones will be watching the roads.
