Paleto Bay Medical Center is on fire tonight after a suspicious substance, described as a "chemical", was used inside the building.

At least ten people are confirmed dead. Officials have warned that the number is likely to rise, and further figures are expected in the coming hours.

Blaine County Fire Department crews are at the scene on Paleto Boulevard, next to the Bay Bar. Smoke could be seen from across the town, and roads around the hospital have been closed.

It is not yet known what the substance was, how it was released, or how many people were inside the hospital at the time. Patients and staff are being moved out of the building, and anyone hurt is being treated nearby.

Authorities have not said whether they believe the release was deliberate. Residents are being urged to stay away from the area, keep windows and doors closed if they live nearby, and follow instructions from the emergency services.

Anyone worried about a relative who was at the hospital should not go to the scene. Weazel News will publish contact details for families as soon as they are released.
